Board the train from Coimbatore Junction Railway Station to reach New Jalpaiguri.
The second day of your trip will be reserved for your journey to New Jalpaiguri.
Upon your arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, our tour representatives will greet you and help you get to your hotel. Once you complete the check-in formalities, you can spend the rest of the day at leisure. Spend the night at your hotel.
After having your breakfast, make your way to visit Tsongmo Lake, which is also known as Changgu Lake. It’s a glacial lake situated at a height of 3,753 metres which remains frozen throughout the winter season. The lake changes colours as the seasons go by, and is highly respected by the locals.
End the day by visiting Baba Mandir, which was built to honour the memory of an Indian army soldier named Baba Harbhajan Singh who sacrificed his life while serving in the army. The temple is located at an altitude of 13,123 ft between Nathu La and Jelep La Pass. Get back to your hotel for the night.
In the morning, proceed for a half-day tour of Gangtok. Start with the Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park, a recreation centre located next to an army camp. The concept of the theme park was created by Pawan Kumar Chamling, who was the Chief Minister of Sikkim.
Next up is the Do Drul Chorten, a giant stupa that was constructed in 1945. Explore the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, which contains a Tibetan library and museum and provides insight into Tibet. You will then be taken to the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom and Flower Exhibition Centre. By noon, you will be shifting from Gangtok to Darjeeling, and you can spend the night at your hotel.
On the sixth day of your trip, you will be leaving early in the morning for Tiger Hill, where you can catch the most mesmerising sunrise. At this time, the peaks of Kanchenjunga shine bright, and you get a panoramic view of Mount Everest as well as Mount Kanchenjunga. On your way back, visit the Batasia Loop, which is a spiral railway that offers a gorgeous view of Mount Kanchenjunga and other snow-covered peaks. You will also be stopping by Ghoom Monastery, which is renowned for its statue of the Maitreya Buddha, standing 15 ft tall.
Once you get back to your hotel to have breakfast, you can then head out to witness the other magical attractions of Darjeeling. Visit the Japanese Buddhist Temple, which was constructed under the guidance of a Buddhist monk from Japan named Nichidatsu Fujii. You absolutely can’t leave Darjeeling without witnessing its many tea estates. The other spots you will be covering on this day include the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Tenzing and Gombu Rock, and the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre. Get on a cable car ride from the Darjeeling Ropeway to get a spellbinding view of Darjeeling’s forests, waterfalls, rivers, tea gardens, and valleys.
In the morning, leave for the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to board a train to Kolkata.
After arriving in Kolkata, check-in at your hotel and enjoy a flavourful lunch. Once you’re done with your meal, you can head out for a half-day tour of the City of Joy. The first place you will be visiting is the revered Kalighat Kali Temple, which is among the holiest of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Dedicated to Goddess Kali, the present form of the temple is said to be about 200 years old. You will get to lay your eyes on Vidyasagar Setu, which is also known as the Second Hooghly Bridge.
Make your way to the Botanical Garden, an open museum with an impressive collection of plants, herbs, climbers, shrubs, lianas, and so on. Sprawled over an area of 109 hectares, it is home to over 12,000 specimens of rare plants. Get back to your hotel for a relaxing night.
On the ninth day of your trip, you will be visiting some of the most beloved touristy spots in Kolkata. Start off with Belur Math, which is situated on the west bank of the Hooghly River. Founded by Swami Vivekananda, it serves as the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. Visit Rabindra Bharati University, where you can learn further about the life of Rabindranath Tagore.
Next, you will be taken to Dalhousie Square, an area that has remnants of the British colonial era. You can visit Raj Bhavan, Calcutta High Court, Calcutta Town Hall, General Post Office, and Writers' Building. Explore Victoria Memorial, which was built as a dedication to Queen Victoria. Finish off the day by visiting the Indian Museum, which is reputed to be the ninth oldest museum in the world. It is also Asia’s largest and oldest museum.
On the final day of your trip, enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel and get some shopping done. Later in the day, depart for the railway station to board your train back home.
