Discover the wonders of Durban with its African, European, and Indian culture, stunning beaches, and wonderful architecture. Explore this wonderful city with Durban Gateway Tour Packages from GT Holidays.
When you land at King Shaka International Airport, a friendly representative will be there to greet you and take you to your hotel. You'll spend the night at the hotel in Durban.
On the second day of our journey, we're off to explore the beautiful city of Durban. Our city tour departs daily between 08:30 and 09:00, returning around 12:30.
Our adventure begins as we stroll along the brand-new Golden Mile, a rejuvenated beachfront promenade that stretches along the inviting beaches of Durban. Along the way, we'll admire the newly upgraded Point Waterfront area.
Next, we'll meander through the heart of the city, catching a glimpse of the majestic City Hall and enjoying its rich history. Our journey then takes us to the small craft harbour, where we'll witness the 8th largest harbour in the world. As we drive past the busy sugar terminals and bustling harbour warehouses, we'll head towards the University of Natal - Durban Campus. From there, you'll have a fantastic view of the harbour below.
Our next stop is the vibrant African/Indian Markets at Warwick Triangle. This area is home to nine distinct markets, all centered around Durban's largest public transport interchange. Approximately 6,000 street vendors ply their trade here to an average of 460,000 daily commuters. It's a truly authentic experience.
We'll also pay a visit to the fascinating Phansi Museum, which boasts the largest publicly accessible collection of Southern African artefacts and traditions. Here, you can see beadworks, headrests, Zulu clay pots, and many other treasures (please note that the museum is closed on weekends, and there may be an entrance fee).
From delving into culture, we'll switch to nature as we explore the tranquil Durban Botanic Gardens. Established in 1849, the gardens are home to massive trees from Asia, Africa, and America, as well as a magnificent orchid house.
Our day concludes with a visit to an icon of KwaZulu-Natal, the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Here, you'll have the option to take a cable car ride (at your own expense) to the top of the stadium, where you can enjoy a phenomenal view of Durban and its surroundings.
After our city tour, we'll return to our hotel in Durban for a comfortable overnight stay.
Today, you have the day to yourself to explore the city at your own pace. You'll spend the night at the hotel in Durban.
After enjoying your morning meal, you'll be taken to King Shaka International Airport for your next flight.
