Itinerary

To the uninitiated, Transylvania is a region along the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. The area is famous for its gothic castles, beautiful towns, and pristine natural beauty. If you are fascinated by the infamous Dracula myth, check out our Transylvania tour package itinerary.

Day 1: Arrive In Bucharest

Upon your arrival at Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, our tour manager will help you transfer to the hotel and complete check-in formalities. Spend the rest of the day exploring the area around the hotel.

Day 2: Bucharest – Sibiu

Today, after breakfast, you will leave to explore Sibiu. The entire journey takes around 4.5 hours and covers around 300 km. On the way, you will enjoy plenty of top attractions like Saint Mary Evangelical Cathedral, The Bridge of Lies, the Astra National Museum, and the fortified monastery of Cozia.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant along the way to sample some of the best Romanian food. Upon reaching Sibiu, you’ll enjoy a walking tour of the city, including the small and large squares, the Stairs Passage, and the Drumbrava Sibiului Natural Park. Sibiu feels like a medieval city with cobbled streets and picturesque row houses.

Day 3: Sibiu – Alba Lulia – Cluj – Napoca

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and leave for Alba Lulia. The journey takes around 2.5 hours and is beautiful. Alba Lulia is an ancient city inhabited since the 1st century AD. It is also the oldest settlement in Romania. The Romans called it Apulum, and they set up the largest military and economic centre in the city.
Some places you will cover here include the Alba Lulia Vauban Fortress, Alba Lulia Princely Palace, the Batthyaneum Library, Apor Palace, and the Roman Catholic Cathedral.

Enjoy a hearty Romanian lunch at a local restaurant before heading to Cluj Napoca, the largest city in the Transylvania region. The journey takes around 2.5 hours and is full of gorgeous landscapes and beautiful castles.

Day 4: Cluj Napoca – Turda –Targu Mures

Today, after breakfast, head to Romania’s most famous salt mines. This is one of the world’s most spectacular natural underground salt mines – large enough to cover the world’s salt requirement for another 60 years. To the uninitiated, Turda, along with Alba Lulia, Cluj Napoca, and Timisoara, is one of Romania's oldest and most important settlements.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Targu Mures. The town is named after a market on the Mures River and was probably founded around the 14th century. Some places you can visit include Apollo Palace, The Old Prefecture, Palffy House, and the St. Michael Wooden Orthodox Church. Don’t miss the 15th-century Targu Mures Fortress built by Prince Stefan Bathory.

Day 5: Targu Mures – Brasov

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and head to Sighisoara, one of the most important places in Transylvania that originated around the 12th century. The town is also believed to be the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Here, you will visit the Covered Stairway and Casa Vlad Dracul, supposedly the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Don’t miss the cobbled streets, the medieval buildings, ancient castles, and the local torture museum.

Later, after lunch, head to Brasov, a popular Romanian ski resort. Check into a luxury hotel to spend the night in Brasov.

Day 6: Brasov – Prejmer – Bran

Today, after a short tour around Brasov, you will head to visit the Prejmer Fortified Church, one of the largest fortified churches in Southeastern Europe, built by Teutonic Knights in the 13th century. Later, you will visit Bran to explore the Bran Castle. This imposing castle is famous for its distinctive red roofs, thick stone walls, and imposing round donjons. It is believed to be the place that inspired Bram Stoker to create his Count Dracula character.

Later, return to Brasov to enjoy some of its attractions. You will visit the Council Square, the Black Church, the First Romanian School Museum, and the Aquatic Paradise.

Day 7: Brasov – Sinaia – Bucharest

Check out of your hotel in Brasov to return to Bucharest via Sinaia. This town is the perfect stop when travelling from Brasov to Bucharest, thanks to its stunning landscapes and mineral springs. Don’t miss the Peles Castle, a fairytale-like castle famous for its intricate décor, statues, gargoyles, and magnificent dining room.

Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before reaching Bucharest. Spend the rest of the day exploring this panoramic city. Some places you will visit include Revolution Square, Triumph Arch, Patriarchy Church, and the Open Air Village Museum.

Day 8: Depart Bucharest

Bid goodbye to Bucharest as you head to catch your flight to return home or continue with the next leg of your Europe tour package journey.
