Itinerary

The world’s oldest Christian country is home to rich Christian traditions, including Orthodox churches, monasteries, and cathedrals. It is also blessed with wonderful nature and plenty of hiking and trekking opportunities for outdoor lovers. If you’d like to explore this Transcaucasus country, check the Armenia holiday package itinerary from GT Holidays.

Day 1: Arrival in Yerevan

Upon arrival at the Zvartnots International Airport, our tour manager will greet you and guide you to the hotel in Armenia’s capital city, Yerevan. Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring places around the area.

Day 2: Yerevan City Tour – Tsakhadzor

Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, is also called Pink City because its buildings are made of naturally coloured volcanic rocks of pink, giving the entire town a vibrant hue. The city is also famous for its pubs, café, and restaurants that are open until early morning.

You will visit Republican Square, Northern Avenue, the Opera House, Swan Lakes, and the Cascade Monument. The latter is an open-air museum. You can climb the museum's stairs to view the entire city.

You will also walk through the Genocide Memorial Park and the Mother Armenia Monument. The latter is considered a female personification of Armenia – she seems to be watching over the entire city, guarding the country and symbolising peace and strength.

After lunch, you will head to Tsakhadzor Town. This popular tourist town is famous for its summer and winter tourism options. In winter, you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding; in summer, you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and picnicking.

The place is also called the Gorge of Flowers owing to the colourful alpine meadows and the flowers that bloom in spring. The striking red-orange carpet of flora in autumn also makes it a great place to visit Tsakhadzor Town.

Don’t miss the ropeway in Tsakhadzor, which will take you to the peak of Mount Teghenis for a breathtaking view of the alpine forests.

Spend the night in Yerevan.

Day 3: Yerevan – Lake Sevan – Dilijan –Yerevan

After a sumptuous breakfast, head out to Lake Sevan. This beautiful lake is in the heart of Armenia and is one of the highest-altitude lakes in the world, standing at over 1,900 metres above sea level. It is also one of the largest lakes in the Caucasus’. Some of the things you can do on Lake Sevan include taking a hiking trail, which begins at the Sevan Botanical Garden, to the mountain peak for an expansive view of the peninsula.

The next stop on your tour is Dilijan. The place is famous for green blanket during spring and the forested slopes with orange, yellow, and red leaves. It’s also called the Switzerland of Armenia and the trail network leading up to the isolated monasteries on Parz Lake. Some of Dilijan’s famous spots include the Jukhtakvank and the Matosavanak monasteries. Don’t miss the fantastic food that’s usually locally sourced and organic. Some things you will enjoy in Dilijan include wild mushroom pizza and lamb served with plums and honey.

Return to Yerevan to spend the night at the luxury hotel.

Day 4: Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Vernissage

Begin your day with a breakfast buffet before heading out for a day trip to Garni and Geghard. Garni is famous for the Garni Temple, a Greco-Roman building/mausoleum probably built by King Tiridates I and is dedicated to Mihr, the sun god.

The next stop on your trip is Geghard, a town located at the entrance of the Azat Valley. The place is famous for the Geghard monastery, a medieval structure named after the spear that apparently wounded Christ on the Cross. The monastery and the surrounding viewpoints from the valley make the place worth visiting. Did you know the Geghard Monastery is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List?

As you return to the hotel, drive to the Vernissage Market to shop for souvenirs, including silken scarves, handmade bags, wooden chess or Backgammon board games, antiques, and carpets.

You can also visit the Dalma Garden Mall to shop for trendy clothes, accessories, and shoes.

Spend the night in Yerevan.

Day 5: Depart Yerevan

As your Armenia holiday package ends, check out of the hotel and head to Yerevan International Airport.
