Itinerary

Bucovina is famous for its medieval-era painted churches and monasteries, charming rural landscapes, and culinary delights. To explore these beautiful treasures, check out our Bucovina tour package itinerary.

Day 1: Bucharest – Suceava

After a sumptuous breakfast of local cold cuts and cheeses, head to the train station to visit Suceava. The journey takes around 7 hours and is absolutely scenic. Upon arrival, check in to a hotel and prepare for a short sightseeing tour of Suceava.

You will visit the fortified castles of Suceava, the Saint George Church, the Saint John’s Monastery, and other attractions.

Spend the night at a luxury hotel in Gura Humorului.

Day 2: Bucovina Monasteries

After breakfast, head to explore some of the world’s famous monasteries and churches. Some of these buildings are hundreds of years old and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. For instance, the Sucevita Monastery was founded in 1581 by Gheorghe Movila as a fortress and a princely residence. The intricate paintings on the exterior walls are as impressive as the artefacts in the museum. In fact, Sucevita is the last of the 22 painted churches in Bucovina and has one of the largest numbers of painted images.

The next on the list is Voronet Monastery, also called the Sistine Chapel of the East. It is the most famous for all painted churches in Bucovina and was founded by Stephan the Great in 1488. The monastery is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The Moldovita Monastery was founded by Petru Rares, the illegitimate son of the Stephen III of Moldovia. It is one of the 8 painted churches that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and famous for its frescos depicting stories and themes from the holy scriptures, including the Tree of Jesse, the Siege of Constantinople, and the Last Judgement.

On the way to these sites, you’ll stop at Marginea to enjoy local workshops on black ceramicware.

Spend the night at Gura Humorului.

Day 3: Bucharest

After breakfast, leave Suceava to reach Bucharest and continue with the next leg of your Europe tour package journey.
