After breakfast, head out to explore the beautiful town of Sibiu. On the way, stop at Horezu to visit the Monastery of Horezu, which was set up in 1690 by Prince Constantine Brancovan and is famous for its architectural beauty. The monastery is also considered a masterpiece of the Brancovan style.

Later, after lunch, continue your journey to Sibiu. On the way, you’ll make a short visit to the fortified monastery of Cozia. Check-in to a luxury hotel in Sibiu.

Sibiu is one of Romania's most beautiful cities, famous for its medieval charm and colourful houses. It was founded in the 12th century to accommodate German settlers in Transylvania. Some places you will explore in this quaint town include the ASTRA National Museum Complex, apparently the largest open-air museum in Europe, the Stairs Passage, the many fortresses in Sibiu, and the winding streets along the town.

Enjoy a Romanian lunch at a local restaurant and head to the Museum of Glass Painted Icons. Spend the rest of the evening exploring the beautiful city and seeing how the villagers enjoy life in this quiet town.

Spend the night in Sibiu.

Today, you will explore Sibiu. This often-overlooked town in Transylvania is full of natural wonders and gorgeous edifices. Some places you will cover today include Corvin’s Castle, also called Hundayi Castle. This unique castle is the largest medieval castle in Transylvania and was the perfect showpiece to depict the financial prowess of the Corvin Family.

While the castle has changed over the centuries, visitors should not miss Neboisa, or the Last Defence Tower, which has remained unchanged since John Hunyadi built the castle in the 1440s.

Later, you will explore the city of Deva, the capital of Hunedoara County. The Hungarian King Stefan built the 13th-century local fortress, later developed by John Hunyadi in 1444.

Travel back to Sibiu to spend the night in the city.

Today, you will check out of your hotel in Sibiu and continue to the northern parts of Romania. These are some of the most traditional and wildest places in Transylvania. The distance from Sibiu to Alba Lulia takes around an hour and is extremely scenic.

Alba Lulia is a beautiful city with a great history. The Romans called it Apullum and used it as a military and commercial settlement. You will visit the Alba-Carolina Citadel, Reunification Cathedral, Saint Michael Cathedral, and the caves in the Apunesi Mountains.

Later, drive to Baia Mare, a beautiful town founded in the 12th century by Saxon immigrants. Check into your hotel and spend the night in luxury.

Today, you will tour Maramures, one of Romania’s most rural areas where people still follow centuries-old traditions and customs. The town is famous for its wooden churches, wood carvings, and carpets. Some of the places you will explore today include the Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Surdesti, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the upper church of Leud, the Plopis Wooden Church, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Maramures Village Museum.

Drive along the Iza Valley to admire the many beautiful villages along the Ukraine border. Don’t miss the Merry Cemetery, now an open-air museum listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a unique place where people choose fun ways to be remembered through their epitaphs and memorial crosses. Interestingly, these crosses are painted in a distinctive blue, now called the Sapanta Blue.

Return to Baia Mare in the evening to stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, you’ll leave for Bucovina, stopping at the many wooden churches in Poienile Izei and Barsana. You’ll pass through Prislop Pass, Romania’s highest mountain road pass, to reach Gura Humorului, a beautiful town in the Bukovina region.

Bucovina has a rich history and plenty of architectural monuments, including medieval monasteries, churches, and natural wonders. Today, you will explore some of Bucovina’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the monasteries of Sucevita and Voronet, later called the Sistine Chapel of the East. Don’t miss the Moldovita Monastery, famous for its depiction of the ancestors of Jesus Christ, and the many ceramic workshops in Marginea.

After the morning, proceed to Sighisoara through the Bicaz Gorge, a scenic canyon that is the passageway from Moldova to Transylvania. Sighisoara is the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, the supposed inspiration behind the fictional character of Count Dracula. Sighisoara is a beautiful medieval town with cobblestone paved roads, colourful buildings, and long winding streets.

Today, after breakfast, check out of the hotel and head to Brasov. Stop at Prejmer, a fascinating Transylvanian village renowned for its UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Peasant Fortified Citadel, built by the Teutonic Knights in the early 1200s, is a must-visit.

After lunch, head to Brasov, a medieval town once Transylvania's capital. Brasov is one of the most beautiful places in Romania, famous for its Gothic, baroque, and Renaissance architecture.

After a hearty breakfast of traditional cold cuts, cheese, sausages, eggs, bread, and homemade jams, head out to the Prahova Valley. Visit the Bran Castle, a 14th-century fortress believed to have inspired the fictional Count Dracula’s home. Later, you will visit Peles Castle, the former summer residence of the erstwhile royal family of Romania. This unique castle was built in 1914 by King Carol I.

Spend the night at Brasov.

After breakfast, you will leave for Tulcea, a 7th-century town on the Danube Delta founded by the Dacians. You will first drive to Galati, a port town on the Danube River and then board a ferry to reach Tulcea. Check in to a hotel and spend the rest of the evening exploring places around your hotel.

You will start the day with an excursion to the Danube Delta. This is the second longest river, flowing through 10 countries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Almost 82% of the Danube Delta is in Romania, while the rest is in Ukraine. The delta hosts over 300 species of birds, 45 varieties of freshwater fish, and the Letea forest.

Leave for Bucharest through Constanta, the largest city on the Black Sea Coast. On the way, you will stop in Histria to explore the ancient Greek ruins. The town was founded by Milesian settlers in the 7th century BC and is probably the oldest city discovered in Romania. Some places you will explore here include the National History Museum and the Roman Mosaic from 100 BC.

You will continue your journey to Bucharest to spend the night in the city.

Enjoy a short tour of Bucharest exploring some of Bucharest’s famous tourist attractions, including Revolution Square, the People’s Salvation Cathedral, the Romanian Athenaeum, the Royal Palace of Bucharest, the Arch of Triumph, University Square, and the Open Air Village Museum.
